The Path Clinic is a judgment free zone in which a woman with a substance abuse issue can receive excellent compassionate healthcare that addresses her addiction. The birth outcomes for women who receive Path Clinic services prenatally are much better than the average outcomes for the state and nation, even though the women struggle with addiction.
The services provided at the Path Clinic are comprehensive in the way that a woman can address her addiction and social service issues in the same comfortable place that she sees her OB/GYN doctor. While the clinic is not a substance abuse treatment program, it provides substance abuse pre-treatment: assessments, education, skill-building, and counseling. If a woman choses to enter a substance abuse treatment program, the Path Clinic can continue to provide OB/GYN services.
In 2010, a Hawaii Tobacco Trust Fund grant was awarded to The Path Clinic to provide free comprehensive smoking cessation services to pregnant women and women with young children on Oahu. The Path Clinic also opened its doors to all breastfeeding women on Oahu by hosting a weekly breastfeeding support group at no charge |
